After being postponed due to the pandemic, Dubai Expo was finally launched on the first of October by its managing director Reem El Hashimi.
The expo still carries the name Expo 2020 despite the fact that it’s taking place in 2021. The name has many indications but the most important one is the insistence to overcome all the challenges that govern the world and on top of it the pandemic.
Covid-19 has paralyzed the world and the economic exchange between different countries. Expo 2020 is here to remind us that the only way to a sustainable and secure future is through the world union.
With its driving motto, “connecting minds, creating the future”, it shows us how the harmony and the collaboration between different countries are the way to a successful future.
The Bureau International des Expositions general assembly in Paris named Dubai as a host on the 27th of November 2013.
Date and location of Expo 2020
The Expo 2020 will last about 6 months from the 1st of October till the 31st of March 2022.
In 1080 acres located between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the expo is divided into 3 large districts where each district is dedicated to one of the sub-themes of Expo 2020.
The Expo holds around 192 countries from all the continents. Afghanistan, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Cuba, France, Germany, Morocco and Lebanon are some of the participating countries in the international event.
The sub-themes of the expo
The themes of the participating countries are sustainability, opportunity and mobility and they inspire visitors to save our planet.
Unlocking the potential for individuals and communities to shape the future.
Creating smarter and more productive exchange among people, goods and ideas, both physically and virtually.
Respecting and living in a well-balanced lifestyle in the world we inhabit to ensure a sustainable future through sustaining resources.
The exposition is a global destination for people from different countries to share ideas, showcase their innovation and celebrate global human creativity for the benefit of the whole world.
It enables countries to exchange new perspectives and present solutions for the world's challenges such as inequality, health and wellness and environmental changes.
Many inventions were actually first brought to the world at an exposition such as the Air conditioning in 1939 World Fair and the coloured TV in New York in 1964
Lebanon presence in Expo 2020
Despite all the challenges that Lebanon is facing, the country is present in the opportunity pavilion of the expo.
The main opportunity the country has is in its people and their solidarity.
The country is counting on its people as Elie Al Khoury, communications manager of the pavilion, clarifies.
Lebanon's presence is a message of hope for the future and it’s an invitation to investors from all over the world to put their trust in Lebanon.
Lebanon is a resilient country and Lebanese people have historically overcome many drastic events that affected them.
The economic collapse that we are encountering is only a phase and a transitional one to a brighter future with the persistence of Lebanese people.
The expo is holding Lebanese artists and designers who are exhibiting their creativity and uniqueness.
The Lebanese pavilion has huge screens that portray the beauty of different Lebanese geographic diversities and of its beautiful landscape in addition to fashion and party scenes.
The pavilion also contains several swings that remind you of your childhood and take you in unforgettable scenes of Lebanon in a “fly above Lebanon” journey.
BIM POS presence in Expo 2020
BIM POS is among the several other companies that is present digitally in the expo on the huge screens all along the expo.
