After being postponed due to the pandemic, Dubai Expo was finally launched on the first of October by its managing director Reem El Hashimi.
The expo still carries the name Expo 2020 despite the fact that it’s taking place in 2021. The name has many indications but the most important one is the insistence to overcome all the challenges that govern the world and on top of it the pandemic.
Covid-19 has paralyzed the world and the economic exchange between different countries. Expo 2020 is here to remind us that the only way to a sustainable and secure future is through the world union.
With its driving motto, “connecting minds, creating the future”, it shows us how the harmony and the collaboration between different countries are the way to a successful future.
The Bureau International des Expositions general assembly in Paris named Dubai as a host on the 27th of November 2013.
The Expo 2020 will last about 6 months from the 1st of October till the 31st of March 2022.
In 1080 acres located between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the expo is divided into 3 large districts where each district is dedicated to one of the sub-themes of Expo 2020.
The Expo holds around 192 countries from all the continents. Afghanistan, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Cuba, France, Germany, Morocco and Lebanon are some of the participating countries in the international event.

Many inventions were actually first brought to the world at an exposition such as the Air conditioning in 1939 World Fair and the coloured TV in New York in 1964
Despite all the challenges that Lebanon is facing, the country is present in the opportunity pavilion of the expo.
The main opportunity the country has is in its people and their solidarity.
The country is counting on its people as Elie Al Khoury, communications manager of the pavilion, clarifies.
